For my movie poster i wanted to make the back different but similar to the front, i added the same background to add the transverse effect so it didnt look dodgy, also on the back i added blood stains to show what the movie is really all about, i wanted to add the dark effects of what the movie will be introducing to the viewers watching, also you can use this as a idea for the films rating, to show why it's really a 18+ movie, also the slur on the back, i wanted to have a slur that introduced what film was about, and becasuse it says 'keep your cards close' intends that this movie is about gambling, it gives the purchaser of the dvd something to think about as theyre begining to wathc the film, on the DVD sleeve i added the barcode, the maker of the film, and actors, directors, and producers in the film.

Evaluation of my movie poster
Poster evaluation
My idea
In my plan I had proposed a
plan to design a movie poster based on gangs and gambling, I wanted to stick to
my roots and base the film idea in Manchester, I chose this due to the city
having some rough parts which I thought may suit my concept of what I want to
do.
The genre I thought would
suit my movie would be Action, the reason why is because it involves a lot of
violence and contains scenes in it which in the real world would be classed as
illegal, the films rating would be 18+ due to bloody scenes and large amount of
violence and drugs, I would class this as a suitable age limitation for the
movie.
How I planned out my poster
When thinking of a plan for
my posters overall design I wanted it to have a black, white and grey colour
design to show it has a sort of murky and moody depth to it, I was hoping this
could show viewers of the poster that it is a very dark movie.
The next design I added was
the title, I initially wanted to call my film gambler but then I reckoned it
was too bland so decided to call it pariuer which is the French meaning for
gambling in which my opinion seems to have a bit more of a kick to it.
After I found the name for my
poster I then went of “dafont.com” and gathered numerous fonts which I thought
may suit the posters overall look, I then came to the conclusion of picking
‘Porter Bold’ which gives the poster a mysterious look about it.
‘Porter Bold Font’
Moving on from the design
prospect of my poster I then went on to taking photo’s for my movie poster, I
used ‘Caleb’ as my main model on the front cover, due to his physique I knew
he’d make the perfect fit for my movie as when he put on a mean face it came
across as intimidating which was one of the points I was aiming for when
planning my movie poster, I then went on Photoshop and edited out the white
screen in the background and added a grey/black layer over him to fit the
posters main colour scheme.
When making my poster I
wanted to base it off a gangster film I had already seen, I used the film ‘lock
stock and two smoking barrels’ as a prime example of what I could base my film
off, the film is heavily gambling/gang related, it shows different storylines
of individual characters on it which I wanted to include into my poster, I
wanted to add a muggish theme with a dark scale colour design as the main goal
to aim on my poster to give it a rough and edged up look, how I did this was my
going into my colour options and picking
dark colours which I then write down to give myself a idea before I actually
went to design it all.
Before planning my poster I
was aiming to give it a lot of bright colours to make it stand out and was
thinking about adding a lot more patterns to the poster to give it the star
factor, but coming from this I knew it wouldn’t fit the idea of a ‘gangster’
like film, it just wouldn’t be right, so I added the dark scale instead as a
idea and it suited more to my plans on making the poster.
Professionalism
I think my level of
professionalism in making the poster was good; it took me a good few days to do
it compared to weeks, I really got my head down when planning and designing the
poster, but being honest I know this poster wasn’t my absolute best work, I
know I could easily achieve better, but this is something I can look at in the
future as something to look down on.
Areas For improvement
For improvement wise, I would
have liked to add more images and a vibrant dark colour scale pallet to my
poster design, from my prospective it looks very broad and too dull, even
though I could say dull was kind of my aim in the poster, it’s something that
looks a bit ‘over the top’ dull as it just looks really basic.
Problem solving
A problem solving technique I
encountered was my mac crashing, when it crashed the work I was doing reset and
it made me re-think my whole plan, I didn’t change every idea in my plan but
changed a few things to give my poster a better look to which it originally was
when first making my poster.
How is it aesthetically?
I’d say my poster is
aesthetically pleasing to look at if you’re into gangster related films; it
definitely gives off the vibe of a gangster film if you were to look at it, it
has the dark muggy look which to me pleases me, it’s a goal which I aimed to
achieve in my poster, so yes, overall I’d say it’s aesthetically pleasing.
Is it appropriate to a audience?
I’d say yes it is, I gave my
film a rating of 18+ due to violence and drugs within the film, looking at the
poster I think you could definitely tell it is, it gives off the vibe of a
dangerous feeling, as I gave the character muggy looks and a dark feeling as it
looks like he his violent, at lowest I would lower it to a 16+ as I think that
age is quite suitable I think so anyway.
This is a design i drew of my poster, i planned to change this throughout my
making of the poster by making minimal changes to it, i didnt add colour due to it only being a design.
And this is my final design, done on photoshop, as i said i made minimal changes to the poster and have added a more darkerscale colour scheme, i have gave it a gnagster-ish look by making my actor look threatening.

Poster 2015/16
For my movie poster i went for a very classic look to the theme of it, i wanted to make the poster feel thugish/gangster like to show the impression that my movie is all about that, when making the poster i wanted to add a more colourful scheme to make it stand out but changed my mind to a darker colour scheme to make the poster look more to it's original value, i also went with the idea of adding a eagle eye veiw of machester to show the representation of where it is based, for my final part the tital, i wanted to make my film about gambling but because it sounds boring and un-original i decided to translate late it via. google translate to 'pariuer' meaning gambler in french, to me this little change is something that has improved my poster signifficantly.
